Buh Bye Sushi, Hello Noodles? 2009 Food Trends

CNN reported this morning that the anticipated food trend of 2009 will be Ramen noodles, displacing the coveted position previously held by sushi. Whether it be a natural change of food preferences or a logical response to the ICU-health status of our economy, noodles are gentler on the wallet and a way to practice cruelty-free eating. Fortunately for those of us in New York City, a rich panoply of noodle houses is at our fingertips.

With neighborhoods like Chinatown, Nolita, the East Village and Morningside Heights and many sections of the ethnic food heavy-weight borough of Queens spanning from Woodside, Jackson Heights through Flushing, it’s possible to enjoy an assortment of richly varied noodle and noodle soup establishments for almost any budget, from Momofuku in the East Village to Taste Good Restaurant in Elmhurst to Rhong Tiam in Greenwich Village and Sripraphai in Woodside.
