Spice Up Your Solstice
December 21st is Winter Solstice, the shortest day and the longest night of the year. It marks the beginning of that time of the year when the Northern hemisphere is farthest from the sun and receives less direct sunlight. This is what brings on the winter doldrums for many.
A great deal can be done to counter these feelings, including purchasing SAD (seasonal affective disorder) full spectrum therapy lights, candles and seeking out different forms of light therapy.
One great way to to bring brightness to this extended night is to share some soothing hot, spicy Wassail with friends and family. Popular in Germanic countries, the word is of Anglo Saxon origin, meaning “be healthy.” Preparing wassail will infuse your home with a warm, cozy fragrance of cinnamon and cloves.

Happy Solstice to all!
