Not only is Petal Belle a cozy, cheerful new addition to one of the city’s most charming neighborhoods, it also has one of the best lunch deals going.
The $10 lunch special will get you an excellent grill-pressed panino, a large side of mesclun salad and a soda.
The panini menu includes many varieties including roasted pork and provolone, turkey and stilton and vegetarian varieties such as mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes and pesto, which was what I most recently enjoyed there.
Apart from the delectable menu comprised of products that are high quality and chosen with care by the manager and owner of Petal Belle, Elisa, whose love for this place is exclaimed in every detail, the cafe’, has a joyfully human, old-fashioned feel to it. In this privately-owned, locally conscious gem, neither the food nor the customers are rushed or processed.
With its restored antique glass storefront looking out onto the beautiful limestone facade of St. Anthony’s Church, pressed tin ceiling, exposed pipes, wood carved bar and original turn of the century mosaic floor tiling, it offers great food and soothing respite. Do you need any more reasons to skip Starbucks and Cosi and support this neighborhood treasure?
